Capstone CMT-380 electric hybrid supercar with microturbines
December 12, 2009 · Leave a Comment
If you’re thinking this will never make production, think again. Capstone already has commercial buses running and it will not be long before the same technology is brought to passenger cars. In theory, the turbine engine is perfect for an onboard generator to charge batteries. It runs very efficiently, while being compact and has the ability to run on almost any fuel. Only issue might be the jet like noise that it produces which remains to be seen whether it will be acceptable to buyers.

This is the future of hybrid motoring. It’s nice to know that there’ll still be awesome looking cars even after we switch to alternative fuels and energy sources.

I think keyless entry is a good idea, keyless start, even better. But an iPhone app for your Merc? What’s wrong with a nicely machined keyfob anyways?
2010 Volkswagen Amarok Unveiled, Coming To Australia | The Motor Report: Auto News And Reviews

I’ve always fancied myself as a ute driver, in particular tall double cab utes. To me they portray much more of the adventure and tough guy image than a SUV. Currently, the only ones I would consider are the Hilux and Navara. However, they might just be a bit too rough and tough as a family car and safety isn’t exactly tops despite the tough image. The upcoming Amarok would make things interesting especially for those who are concerned about safety and comfort. Hopefully VW will have much improved their reliability track record to come close to the indestructible reputation the Hilux has. Regardless, VW will sell ship loads of these when it’s launched for sure.

The Worlds 18 Strangest Roads – Hawaiis Hana Highway, Capulin Volcano Road And Other Strange Roadway Architecture – Popular Mechanics

Top marks if you can name the road above. The Stelvio Pass in Italy has been the subject of many a car magazine’s favourite road. Popular Mechanics highlights 17 other fantastic roads that you must drive before you die. One glaring omission is the road highlighted in the latest season of Top Gear, the Transfagarasan Highway in Romania which in my mind, at least equals the Stelvio Pass in sheer breath-taking ability.
