Volvo’s finally getting diesel engines that are competitive. The 2.0l four banger is taken from the Ford Focus TDCi while an interesting new twin turbo D5 producing 420nm will be available on the XCs and the S80. On the XC60, Volvo claims fuel consumption with the D5 to be as low as 6.2l/100km. Armed with the D5, Volvo should sell a lot more of the XC60s as poor efficiency from the old D5 was the biggest drawback.
